Vendor register

Also called Vendor list, Supplier register

A vendor register is one list of every vendor a company or team uses, with what each does, who owns it and what contract applies.

Why it matters to a budget owner

A register is useful before any contract is attached: knowing which vendors exist and who owns each is the first step to managing them.

Add contracts as they surface, and keep missing terms visible as gaps rather than guesses.

What to record

  • Vendor name and what it provides
  • The owner and where it is used
  • The contract, if there is one

Frequently asked questions

What is the difference between a vendor register and a contract register?

A vendor register lists who you buy from; a contract register lists what you signed. Most teams need both, linked.

General working knowledge about commercial contracts, not legal advice. Your own agreement governs.
